Ukrainians were reminded of the cases when a passport is subject to mandatory replacement. Updating the document is necessary not only after its expiration date, but also in a number of other situations related to changes in personal data or the physical condition of the passport.
In particular, a new passport is required if the validity of the current document has already expired or is approaching its expiration. The passport is also subject to replacement in the event of a change in surname, first name or patronymic, regardless of the reason for such changes.
The reason for reissuing the document is also the detection of errors in personal data or other information specified in the passport. In addition, a new document will be needed if there are no more free pages left in the passport for border crossing notes.
A passport is also considered unusable if it is damaged - in particular, if the pages are torn, the information is damaged, or the document has traces that make it impossible to identify the person. A separate reason for issuing a new passport is its loss.
To obtain a new international passport, a citizen of Ukraine must prepare a standard package of documents. It includes the internal passport of a citizen of Ukraine and the registration number of the taxpayer's registration card. If available, the previous international passport is also submitted.
In case of a change in marital status or personal data, it is necessary to additionally provide the relevant supporting documents - a marriage certificate or a document confirming the change of name. These documents are the basis for entering the updated data into the new passport.
