65 Ukrainian citizens who were in the buffer zone on the Russian-Georgian border for more than two weeks have returned home, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
Among the evacuees were 10 women and 8 seriously ill people. The Ukrainians were returned through the territory of Moldova with the assistance of the authorities of Georgia and Chisinau.
The Foreign Ministry recalled that the humanitarian crisis at the border arose in the second half of June. It was then that Russia began to sharply increase the number of Ukrainian citizens forcibly deported to this checkpoint.
Ukraine has already appealed to the Russian Federation to send deportees directly to the Ukrainian border, rather than to the territory of Georgia. This request remains valid.
Currently, all citizens who were returned are safe.
