The Ukrainian shooter STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl impressed the world audience, displacing the popular Counter-Strike 2 in the top of Steam sales for the period from November 19 to 26, 2024. The game from the studio GSC Game World not only became the most profitable in that category, but also gained popularity among players around the world, being among the leaders and in the list of free games (F2P).
STALKER 2 recently set a new record on the Steam platform with over 30,000 reviews , of which 78% are positive. Peak online for Ukrainian games on the platform also did not go unnoticed - more than 120,000 gamers simultaneously played this project. This is a historic moment for the industry of Ukraine.
The developers did not delay with the important news - just two days after the release, sales of STALKER 2 exceeded 1 million copies . This is an impressive result, especially when you consider that this number does not include downloads of the game through Xbox Game Pass , which makes the actual number of players even more impressive.
Despite enthusiastic reviews, STALKER 2 did not escape criticism regarding technical performance. Players and critics have pointed out bugs and other problems with the optimization of the game. In this regard, the developers of GSC Game World announced that they are working on the release of a major patch that will be available in the near future to fix the technical problems that have spoiled the experience of the game for some users.
Despite its technical performance issues, STALKER 2 continues to dominate other major releases on Steam's sales charts.
