Ukrainian tennis player Lyudmila Kichenok refused to participate in the Australian Open tournament

Ukrainian tennis player Lyudmila Kichenok and her partner in mixed doubles, Frenchman Sadio Doumbia, withdrew from the Australian Open tournament. The pair was supposed to play in the first round against Australian Ellen Perez and German Kevin Kravitz, but did not take the court. The reasons for such a decision are currently not disclosed.

Despite the rejection of mixed, Lyudmila Kichenok continues to demonstrate a high level in doubles. In a duet with Zhan Haoqin from Chinese Taipei, the Ukrainian advanced to the third round, winning a convincing victory over British Harriet Dart and French Diane Parry with a score of 6:0, 6:3.

This success was special for Kichenok: she won her 50th Grand Slam doubles victory. This achievement is unique among Ukrainian tennis players and emphasizes her status as one of the most successful representatives of Ukraine in tennis.

Lyudmila Kichenok has a number of outstanding achievements behind her shoulders. In 2024, she became the champion of the US Open in doubles and the finalist of the Australian Open. Her consistent results at the Grand Slam tournaments cemented her reputation as one of the world's best doubles players.
