The Ukrainian men's biathlon team's poor performance at the World Cup has implications for future competitions. Under the updated policy, Ukraine will be able to send only four representatives to the races starting next season.
According to the final results of the Biathlon World Cup season, the Ukrainian national team took 11th place in the overall standings of the Nations Cup. With this result, it falls outside the top 10, so according to the World Cup rules, the team is allowed to field only four athletes next season.
Previously, Ukraine usually sent five biathletes to the races, but due to unfavorable results, the number of participants will have to be reduced.
It should be noted that the winner of the Nations Cup by a wide margin was the Norwegian national team. Germany overtook France, taking second place. Sweden and Italy also made it into the top 5.
In previous seasons, the Ukrainian national team was already outside the top 10. For example, in the 2022/2023 season, it took 9th place, and in the 2023/2024 season, the team lost its position in the top 10, losing to Slovenia.
It should be noted that the Nations Cup ranking is formed based on the results of sprint, individual and relay races.
