The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak emphasized that the end of the war on the territory of Ukraine depends, first of all, on the will of Ukrainians, but it is possible only under the conditions of a just world. In his interview with Euronews, he said that if ending the war was only a matter of Ukraine's will, it would end "already tomorrow." However, in the face of threats to national security and sovereignty, peace on terms that could leave Ukraine vulnerable or see the loss of territory is unacceptable.
"We became victims of this aggression, and we really want to restore a just peace. We want to put an end to this war," says Yermak.
Commenting on US President Donald Trump's statement during the pre-election debate, when he refused to say whether he wanted Ukraine to win the war, Yermak said there was no need to overestimate Trump's speech or look for some hidden meaning in it.
"Everyone understands: it is necessary to put an end to this war with a just peace. For our part, we have always said that victory equals a just peace. This means that there is no alternative for us," Yermak said.
Regarding Trump's promise to end the war in one day, Yermak preferred not to name any deadlines:
"I think no one on this planet knows exactly when this war will end. If it depended on Ukraine and the entire democratic world, it would end tomorrow."
He emphasized that the plan of Russia and Putin - to take control of all of Ukraine by force, as well as to destroy European values and democratic order - remains unchanged.
"This is a war for Russia: it is not a war for territory; it is a war against democracy, and it is a war against the free world. They want to destroy Ukraine, but three years have already passed. We are still fighting, we are still strong, and we are still brave," Yermak explained.
