At the request of the EU, Ukraine is preparing to introduce toll roads

The first toll roads will appear in Ukraine. This was reported by the Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development Serhiy Derkach. The implementation of this format is one of the requirements of the European Union for the integration of the country into the common transport system.

There is already a drafted law. Six main routes are considered, the intensity of traffic on them is studied.

"The issue of toll roads is a requirement of the EU. We are talking with investors, there are agreements with the EIB (European Investment Bank). Sooner or later there will be toll roads anyway," said Derkach.

He did not specify whether existing roads will become tolls or whether new ones will be built.
