Denmark's Ministry of Defense has reported that Ukraine can expect to receive its first F-16 fighter jets this summer. This information was confirmed after a meeting at which a report was heard on the number of aircraft, their terms of receipt, as well as the preparation of infrastructure and personnel for their operation.
Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said that while the exact timetable for the transfer of the F-16 fighter jets has not yet been set, they are working to make it happen this summer if all conditions are met as planned. He also emphasized that one of the conditions is the full training of Ukrainian pilots and technical personnel, as well as the availability of the necessary infrastructure in Ukraine.
During the Ramstein meeting on February 14, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umyerov said that everything is on schedule within the framework of all agreements with partners, and that the F-16s are expected in the spring. It should be noted that the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, also announced the possible dispatch of F-16 aircraft "on schedule", stressing that their receipt in these terms is realistic.
The appearance of Western fighter jets in Ukraine can significantly change the situation on the battlefield , since, according to the Ukrainian authorities, Russia has "complete advantage in the sky" in the occupied territories. This could be an important step to support the Ukrainian military in the fight against Russian aggression.
