Finland police suspect a local company in supplying Ukraine five thousand substandard bulletproof vests. The contract provided for the transfer of 10 thousand armor vests totaling about 5.7 million euros. The first 5 thousand equipment of the equipment were sent to Ukraine in the summer of 2022. However, according to police Inspector Mikko Laksonen, the disadvantages of ammunition became obvious "fairly quickly".
"They were not as durable as it was agreed," the law enforcement official said. The investigation began in 2023 after the request of international legal assistance from Ukraine. Investigators work closely with the Ukrainian authorities.
Three suspects, including the head of the company, were detained under the case. They are charged with fraud, budgeting and money laundering.
Finnish investigators continue to collect evidence and do not exclude new arrests. Today, the company that appears in the case is not officially named.
