A private enterprise of the Ukrainian defense sector has started testing promising domestic machine guns. The development of small arms carried out at this enterprise has been engaged in the design of weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine for a long period of time, which guarantees the availability of the necessary competences and expertise.
The new machine guns, designed for use with 14.5 mm cartridges, are designed to engage a variety of lightly armored targets, such as infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, infantrymen in light shelters and fire equipment. They plan to replace the obsolete Soviet-made KPVs, which have been used as the main armament of BRDM and APCs since the time of the USSR.
The future enterprise is also considering the possibility of producing an infantry modification of these machine guns. In addition, another machine gun, designed for 12.7-mm cartridges and an analogue of the Browning M2, is planned to replace the Soviet NSV. These innovations expand the range of weapons produced in Ukraine, demonstrating the gradual expansion of the country's defense base.
