Ukraine and Russia begin negotiations on the exchange of prisoners in Kursk

Ukraine and Russia have begun negotiations on the exchange of prisoners of war taking place in Kursk, as reported by The Financial Times. This decision was made possible thanks to the contacts between the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmytro Lubynts, and his Russian colleague.

Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, said that his Russian colleague had contacted him to start discussing the exchange of prisoners of war. Ukrainian military intelligence has confirmed that it is working on an FT exchange.

Kyiv has not disclosed the exact number of Russian prisoners captured during the Kursk offensive, but officials told the FT that the number was in the hundreds, many of them young conscripts.
