Ukraine will receive more than 5,000 missiles for air defense from the United Kingdom, which will become part of the largest agreement in the history of Ukraine, which was concluded as part of a long -term initiative to strengthen air defense by 2030. The details of the treaty were disclosed by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, who called this cooperation significant for strengthening the country's defense capability.
According to the Agreement, Ukraine will receive 5,000 LMM (Lightweight Multirole Missile) and relevant launchers. The LMM-rapidranger project, which is carried out with the participation of the UK government, Thales and Ukrainian enterprises, also provides for localization of missile production and technology transfer that will help Ukraine increase strategic independence in the field of air defense.
LMM missiles, which have shown efficiency during the fights of 2022-2024, especially in the fight against ShahED drones, will provide Ukraine with the necessary means to protect against air threats.
"I thank the British government and all partners for the support of Ukraine in the fight for freedom!" - said Rustem Umerov, emphasizing the importance of this agreement for the security of the state.
As part of the European leaders summit, which took place on March 2, 2025 in London, the security issues on the continent and the possibility of providing Ukraine with weapons and financing for possible peace talks were discussed.
