Ukraine withdraws American Abrams tanks due to the threat of drones

According to information provided to the Associated Press by two US military officials, Ukraine has decided to withdraw the Abrams tanks provided to it by the United States to the rear because of the threat posed to them by drones used by Russian forces.

“These weapons have made it difficult for Ukraine to protect tanks when they are quickly detected and pursued by Russian drones or shells. Five of the 31 tanks have already been lost as a result of Russian attacks," the agency writes.

Now the US will work with the Ukrainians to "reset tactics." In particular, because the Armed Forces "did not adopt tactics that could make tanks more effective."

The Americans tried to teach the Ukrainians how to use the Abrams in an all-out war, where tanks operate as part of an offensive system that includes artillery, infantry and aviation.

"Since then, however, Ukraine has used them only to a limited extent and has not made an all-out war a part of its operations, a Pentagon official said," the article says. It states that the tanks were thrown into battle during the retreat from Avdiivka.
