Experts and military observers point to several reasons for the rapid advance of the invaders and discuss the possible consequences for Ukraine in the event of the capture of Pokrovsk.
Reasons for the rapid advancement of the Russian Federation
Military observer Denys Popovych explained on the air of the telethon why the Russians were able to advance so quickly in the Pokrovsky direction. First, Russia has an advantage in manpower and firepower. Secondly, they use the mistakes of Ukrainian commanders, in particular in the area of Novogrodivka. This allows Russian troops to act effectively and achieve certain successes.
Popovych also noted that the Russians are ignoring the advance of Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region and are focused on the offensive in the Pokrovsky direction, as there is an opportunity to achieve significant results there. The advanced units of Russian troops are already 10 km from Pokrovsk, and this approach poses a threat to the city.
Consequences of capturing Pokrovsk
In an interview with "RBK-Ukraine", the Chairman of the Council of Reservists of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Ivan Tymochko, shared his forecast regarding the possible consequences of the capture of Pokrovsk. According to him, if Russian troops capture the city, their next targets may be Chasiv Yar, as well as the exit to Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, Kostiantynivka and Druzhkivka.
Tymochko stressed that the Russians will not stop after capturing Pokrovsk and will continue to put pressure on Ukrainian positions. "We saw in Avdiivka, Ocheretyn... Unfortunately, they don't stop," the expert noted. He also added that there is a risk of losing territory, which can significantly affect the situation in Donbas, where the value of territorial losses is definitely not in favor of Ukraine.
What should residents of Pokrovsk do?
In connection with the deterioration of the situation, local residents are advised not to waste time and to consider the possibility of evacuation now. In the conditions of the rapid advance of Russian troops and the high risk of further fighting, the preservation of life and safety of citizens is a priority.
