Due to martial law, Ukraine will introduce new restrictions for men between the ages of 18 and 60 who hold dual citizenship. This decision is aimed at increasing national security and strengthening the mobilization readiness of the country in the conditions of a difficult period.
This was reported by Andriy Demchenko, the spokesman of the State Border Service of Ukraine.
Demchenko emphasized that according to Ukrainian legislation, dual citizenship is not recognized, therefore all citizens of Ukraine, regardless of the presence of other passports, are considered only as Ukrainians. They are subject to all rights and obligations, including restrictions imposed in connection with martial law.
"The wording regarding the fact that Ukrainians with dual citizenship will now not be released from the country can be considered incorrect. I emphasize once again that dual citizenship is not allowed in Ukraine," he said.
Demchenko noted that changes in the legislation are aimed at strengthening border control. Border guards discovered cases when Ukrainians tried to pass themselves off as foreigners during passport control, which is illegal and punishable under current legislation. This highlights the importance of following the rules and laws of the country, especially in times of war.
The introduction of new restrictions on the departure of men abroad is a strategic step to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities. The government calls on all citizens to adhere to established rules and laws to ensure order and security in the country during this difficult period.
