The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine officially requested the Islamic Republic of Iran to refrain from supplying any types of weapons and military equipment to Russia, which is an aggressor state according to the UN Charter and international law. This address emphasizes Ukraine's serious concerns about possible strengthening of military-technical cooperation between Tehran and Moscow.
Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine
The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported that over the past two years, Ukrainians have become victims of Russian terrorist attacks, in particular with the use of drones produced in Iran. The Ukrainian side warns that the strengthening of military-technical cooperation between Russia and Iran poses serious threats not only to Ukraine, but also to Europe, the Middle East and the world in general.
"We demand that Iran completely stop supplying weapons to Russia in order to confirm the seriousness of its statements about its non-involvement in fueling the Russian war machine of death," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The message also emphasizes that confirmation of the fact that Iran has transferred ballistic missiles to Russia will lead to serious consequences for Ukrainian-Iranian relations. Ukraine emphasizes the need to take international measures to protect world peace and security.
British military analyst Sean Bell said yesterday that the supply of Iranian ballistic missiles to Russia looks "inevitable" and could happen in the near future. He emphasized that Russia probably concluded a contract with Iran for the supply of two types of short-range ballistic missiles as early as December 2023.
The Wall Street Journal also reported that Iran is already supplying Russia with "several hundred" short-range ballistic missiles. The transfer of these missiles coincided with intensive shelling of the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine, resulting in the deaths of dozens of civilians.
Western countries previously warned Iran about possible additional sanctions in case of supplying missiles to Russia. The situation continues to be tense, and the world community is watching the developments.
