Ukraine is ready for creative solutions for the return of prisoners, including the involvement of intermediaries. Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense, stated this on television. According to Yusov, Ukraine is grateful to the United Arab Emirates for their support, but is ready to expand the circle of mediators and use various tools to achieve a result.
Yusov emphasized that the main thing in the exchange of prisoners is the interest of both parties, and Russia is slowing down the process of returning prisoners by influencing it through the so-called elections. He also confirmed that among the Russian prisoners there are persons of interest to the Russian military and political leadership.
We will remind that on January 3, the largest exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and Russia took place since the beginning of the invasion. Ukraine managed to bring home 230 defenders, marking the 49th exchange of prisoners since the start of the war and the first in 2024. As of January 6, the number of defenders returned home is 2,828.
