The Ukrainian army continues to develop and modernize its military units, involving women in the performance of tasks. The latest example of such an initiative is the formation of a female unit of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), former People's Deputy Ihor Lutsenko, who now commands a company of strike drones, said.
It is planned to create "a small volunteer unit that will deal with unmanned aircraft systems, in close integration with the Defense Forces of Ukraine."
Also, Economy Minister Yuliya Svyridenko said that Ukraine seeks to involve more women in the demining process.
"The Cabinet of Ministers strives to ensure the professional realization and social integration of women, veterans, persons who have suffered from explosive objects, and persons with disabilities through involvement in the implementation of work in the field of mine countermeasures," says Svyridenko.
He explains this initiative by the policy of "gender equality" in Ukraine.
It will be recalled that from time to time ideas arise in Ukraine about the mobilization of women - or about providing them with more opportunities to serve in the Armed Forces, freeing some of the men for the front line.
