Already at the beginning of next year, Ukraine plans to get a new system to increase the situational awareness of the crews of armored vehicles.
Defense company Vegvisir has announced the first contract to supply its Vegvisir Core system, as announced on its LinkedIn page. Together with Defsecintel, this system will be implemented to improve the situational awareness of vehicle crews in Ukraine.
Although the specific details of the deal remain confidential, it is known that deliveries of Vegvisir Core are planned to take place as early as early 2024.
The Vegvisir Core system, a joint product of Estonia and Croatia, is designed to improve the situational awareness of armored vehicle crews. It allows the crews to view the surrounding environment through the armored walls of the vehicle.
The announcement of the development of the system was made at the beginning of 2022, and the product itself entered the market in September of this year.
The Vegvisir Core includes a variety of systems and sensors, such as driver sensors and proximity sensor systems. Using algorithms, the system creates a "mixed reality" that displays the surrounding environment of armored vehicles on the crew's screens, providing information about objects at a distance of up to 10 km from the vehicle.
The system complies with STANAG and MIL-STD standards, has a simple and convenient interface for use in combat conditions. In the future, it is planned to be able to customize the interface for different crew members, such as the gunner, commander and others.
Vegvisir Core also provides information on the location of both your own and enemy military units on the battlefield, displaying their positions in real-time on video, and providing data on their movement and status. In addition, it is easily integrated with other information systems and interfaces.
