Utility costs are one of the major households around the world, and these costs vary significantly depending on the country. According to the latest analysis, Ukraine has the lowest utilities accounts compared to European countries. On average, Ukrainians pay about 85.14 euros (about UAH 3703) a month, which is much less than in other EU countries.
In the European Union, the most affordable utilities are in Malta, where the average monthly cost is 87.98 euros. Bulgaria (106.46 euros) and Sweden (107.05 euros) also have relatively low costs of utilities.
However, the highest utilities accounts are observed in Western Europe. In the United Kingdom, the average cost of utilities is 291.16 euros per month, in Germany - 302.26 euros, and in Austria - 334.94 euros. The reasons for such differences include different energy sources, state subsidies, climatic conditions and infrastructure costs.
Despite relatively low tariffs in Ukraine, rising energy prices and possible reforms can affect Ukrainians' future expenses. Meanwhile, citizens can check whether they are recipients of utility benefits in their personal office on the Pension Fund portal, which reflects the month and year of the last accrual, the amount and decision on a subsidy.
