Ukrainians may be without electricity for 12 hours a day this winter

According to forecasts of Yasno CEO Serhiy Kovalenko, this winter Ukrainians may face serious problems with electricity supply, which may lead to outages of up to 12 hours a day. Such high forecasts are due to the extraordinary situation in the country's energy system.

"My basic forecast is that there will be a deficit of around 30-35% in the energy system. What does this mean for consumers? If the critical infrastructure is restored and then the remainder will be distributed, the deficit for consumers will be 50%. That is, the basic forecast is 12 hours without light," Kovalenko told Delo.

According to him, the final forecast can be made in August - then it will become clear how many destroyed power plants can be restored before the cold weather, and how severe the winter will be.

Now, on average, Kyivites sit without electricity for seven hours a day.
