According to the results of a fresh nationwide poll conducted by the sociological group "Rating" on May 16, most Ukrainians support the idea of a 30-day armistice without prior conditions. During the study of the adult population of the country, 74% of respondents spoke in favor of a temporary cease ceasefire, and 53% consider President Vladimir Zelensky's visit to Turkey successful.
At the same time, only 25% of Ukrainians are convinced that Istanbul talks can really bring the end of the war. 4% of respondents, on the contrary, believe that such initiatives can cause exacerbation of conflict.
Separately, sociologists have found that 47% of citizens support the participation of President Zelensky in negotiations, even without the presence of Russian leader Vladimir Putin. According to 54% of respondents, Putin's refusal to participate in the negotiations is caused by the unwillingness to stop the war, while another 22% believe that the reason is in fear.
According to the data, the level of trust in Vladimir Zelensky among Ukrainians is currently 70%. This is a much higher mark compared to the beginning of the year, when the level of trust ranged from 53-58%.
We will remind, on Friday, May 16, negotiations with the participation of Ukrainian, Russian and Turkish delegations took place in Istanbul. They lasted about two hours. One of the results achieved was an agreement on the exchange of prisoners of war in the format "1000 to 1000".
