A Ukrainian family that fled to Great Britain after the outbreak of hostilities returned to Vinnytsia due to problems with access to dental care in Great Britain, the Daily Mail reports.
Ukrainian Natalya Zavalnyuk told the publication that she could not get an appointment with an orthodontist in Great Britain to install braces on her teenage daughter. At the same time, in Ukraine, she quickly received the necessary dental care and was fitted with braces "within a few days."
According to the newspaper, the "shocking discovery" was the fact that 67% of Ukrainians were able to see a dentist within 24 hours in the war-torn country, while only 23% were able to see a dentist in Great Britain.
According to the publication, some residents even try to treat teeth themselves, using pliers to remove painful teeth at home.
As the head of the British Dental Association, Eddie Crouch, told reporters: "The fact that refugees are returning to the front line for medical care, which has virtually ceased to exist for millions of people in our country, says a lot.
The incompetent policy of the government has failed both guests from Ukraine and local residents."
