2024 was a landmark year for the State Migration Service of Ukraine: almost 2.63 million foreign passports and more than 1.32 million ID cards were issued during the year. Such indicators testify to the activity of citizens in the production of official documents.
Preparation of documents: what is known?
As reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in 2024, migration service specialists achieved the following results:
- Foreign passports: 2,630,000 documents were issued.
- ID Cards: Over 1,320,000 produced.
- Residence permits: more than 17,000 temporary and almost 9,000 permanent ones have been issued.
- Citizenship of Ukraine: 7,883 persons received it by birth or territorial origin; another 60 people became citizens by decree of the President.
Combating illegal migration
In the field of migration control, the migration service also showed significant results:
- 3,058 irregular migrants were identified .
- Protection was granted to 53 persons who applied for asylum in Ukraine.
For comparison, in 2023, more than 2.7 million foreign passports and more than 1.4 million ID cards were issued. Although the numbers are similar, in 2024 there was a decrease of 70,000 issued foreign passports and 80,000 ID cards.
The increase in the number of completed documents indicates a high demand among Ukrainians, who increasingly choose convenient and modern methods of obtaining documents. Thanks to digitization and optimization of registration processes, citizens get access to services faster and more efficiently.
