At a meeting with representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Tetyana Berezhna announced the serious shortage of personnel that the country is facing.
She reported that due to the war, departure of Ukrainians abroad and internal migration, there is a shortage of personnel and structural unemployment in the state. If in 2021 the official labor market counted 11.5 million workers, then in 2023 this figure decreased to 9 million officially employed.
"According to preliminary calculations, in order to ensure annual GDP growth by 7% until 2030, we need 4.5 million additional workers," Berezhna said.
As First Deputy Minister Oleksiy Sobolev noted during the meeting, GDP grew by 4.1% over the six months, and growth over the year is expected to be 3.5%.
"As for forecast macro-indicators for 2025-2027, the basic scenario recently approved by the government takes into account both security factors and other factors, some of which arise from the security situation," said Sobolev.
