In the conditions of the ongoing war, Russia demonstrates the ability to adapt to international sanctions and use the latest technologies to conduct hostilities. Aviation expert Anatoly Khrapchynsky emphasized on the air of the telethon that Russia can buy Starlink abroad and install it on the "Shahed" attack drones. This testifies to Moscow's global goal – to scale up the production of drones, which, according to Putin, should exacerbate the situation in Ukraine.
Threat from "Shahed"
"Shahed" is not only a means of attack, but also used for reconnaissance. They help the occupiers find vulnerable places in the Ukrainian defense for further attacks. Khrapchynsky noted that Ukraine had already taken measures to destroy a significant number of Russian radar equipment, which made it difficult for them to obtain information.
However, the Russians continue to adapt, using reconnaissance drones that penetrate deep into the territory of Ukraine. This process, according to the expert, is part of a strategy to obtain data for planning the next attacks using cruise missiles.
Challenges for Ukraine
The main task for Ukraine remains the search for effective countermeasures against UAVs. According to Khrapchynskyi, Ukraine needs to scale up its capabilities for automatic detection and destruction of such aerial threats. One promising solution could be the Skynex system from Rheinmetall, which provides a comprehensive approach to air defense.
In addition, Ukrainian engineers are already developing technologies that allow reconnaissance drones to intercept anti-aircraft drones. However, it is necessary to continue to work on the automation of the system, because in the conditions of war, every minute can become decisive.
