Ukrainian journalist Sokolova spoke about the termination of international assistance

The journalist and presenter Yanina Sokolova could not contain his emotions, responding to the statement of the People's Deputy from the "servant of the people" Marian Zablotsky, who criticized the USAID activity in Ukraine and proposed the curtailment of some programs funded by this organization. Sokolova called his position "nasty", emphasizing the importance of these initiatives for Ukraine and emphasizing that their termination can have serious consequences for education, medicine, cultural projects and anti -corruption media in the country.

In her reaction, Sokolova noted that the closure of USAID programs would strike the most vulnerable sectors such as education, medicine, humanitarian assistance to the frontline cities and support for cultural and anti -corruption initiatives. She stressed that thanks to these prosets, Ukraine received important assistance in the development of civil society and strengthening infrastructure. In particular, the journalist noted that the programs helped support schools, universities and hospitals, as well as provided humanitarian assistance to the frontline towns.

“With the curtailment of USAID Ukraine, we will lose the support of schools, universities, hospitals, frontier towns with humanitarian problems. I am silent about the whole layer of cultural content, free media and anti -corruption editions. They all moved the country forward. Now under threat, ”Yanina Sokolova said in her post.

For his part, Marian Zablotsky supported the audit of USAID programs, emphasizing that many of them are ineffective, and some of the finances are profitable for private companies in the United States, instead of effectively facilitating Ukraine's development. As an example, he cited $ 297 million, which were spent on communication projects, including the support of music groups, creation of talk shows, electronic music residences and reality shows.

“I also have no claim to artists as performers. But in no world, even on all conceivable and unimaginable such projects, it is impossible to spend $ 297 million with a pure conscience! Most of the money settles as a net profit of one private company in the US, ”Zablotsky said in his comment.

The politician also advocated the reform of international assistance, in particular proposed to spend funds directly in Ukraine through transparent mechanisms and tenders to avoid excessive costs of inefficient projects and to maximize benefits for the country.

The conflict between Sokolova and Zablotsky raises the question of the effectiveness of using international assistance in Ukraine, as well as how important these programs are to develop the country in war. However, the only fact that is not in doubt is that USAID really supports a large part of important infrastructure and social initiatives in Ukraine. Meanwhile, a request for transparency of use and the efficiency of these projects really exists, and it should be carefully considered at the level of governments and international partners.
