Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, expressed concern about the attitude of Ukrainian society to corruption, noting that there is tolerance for corruption at various levels in the country. He stated this in an interview, emphasizing the paradoxical situation when citizens can verbally oppose corruption, but in practice contribute to its spread.
"Citizens of the country are still, let me be frank, tolerant towards manifestations of corruption. This is a problem we face at all levels of society," said Podolyak. He noted that even if Ukrainians publicly condemn corruption, their actions often contradict these declarations.
In particular, the adviser emphasized that many Ukrainians, looking for a quick solution to their problems, offer bribes to officials and officials. According to Podoliak, this undermines the effectiveness of anti-corruption initiatives and hinders the fight against corruption at the systemic level.
"There is a paradoxical situation when people do not support corruption in words, but encourage its development in practice. This is a big problem that requires radical changes in the consciousness of society," Podolyak added.
