On the eve of the new school year, about 300,000 Ukrainian children left the country. This was stated by People's Deputy Nina Yuzhanina on the air of the Vechir.LIVE .
Yuzhanina expressed serious concern about the situation and noted that such a mass departure of children reflects parents' anxiety about the future. According to her, families do not receive clear signals from the state regarding plans for the autumn-winter period, as well as regarding the state's military capabilities.
"Parents don't know what to expect"
The deputy stressed that a large part of families do not receive specific forecasts from the authorities regarding the situation in the country. She noted that this leads to people deciding to move abroad, often selling their possessions.
"People do not hear from the authorities what the action plan is for the coming autumn and winter, and what will happen to military capabilities. Today they live here, and tomorrow they sell the apartment and property and leave. The closest country is Poland," Yuzhanina explained.
A demographic crisis is on the horizon
Mass migration of children and their families only increases the threat of a demographic crisis in Ukraine. According to forecasts of the Institute of Demography and Quality of Life Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine , the country's population may decrease significantly over the next decades. According to their estimates, the population may decrease to 28.9 million people by 2041, and to 25.2 million by 2051.
