In 2024, when Ukraine continues to defend its independence against the backdrop of an ongoing war, the average salary in government agencies continues to show significant growth. If at the beginning of the year the average accrued salary in state bodies was 38.6 thousand hryvnias, then by October this indicator reached 57.5 thousand, which means more than 19 thousand hryvnias in addition in just ten months.
It is interesting that against the background of the growth of official salaries, the average salary in the country, according to the State Statistics Service, is only 21.9 thousand hryvnias. This is three times less than that of civil servants. Supervisory boards of large state structures, where official salaries are at least 200,000 hryvnias, should also be mentioned separately. It should be noted that state funds are used to pay civil servants, and salary increases are an important step in the economic crisis.
The largest increases are observed in some ministries and state agencies. In particular, in the Ministry of Veteran Affairs, the salary increased from 20 to 55.1 thousand hryvnias, and in the Ministry of Economy it increased from 40 thousand to 69.1 thousand. In the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, the salary rose from 22.6 to 53.5 thousand hryvnias, and the State Agency for Energy Efficiency marked an almost fourfold increase — from 15.6 to 60.6 thousand hryvnias.
On the other hand, the Ukrainian authorities faced serious financial problems affecting important sectors such as defense, social benefits for pensioners, and salaries of doctors and teachers. Due to a lack of funds, Ukraine is forced to postpone the construction of fortifications and other measures of a defensive nature, which endangers the country's national security. The lack of funding for the military and doctors against the background of record salaries of officials creates serious tension in society.
