In the new ranking of the cost of living compiled by Numbeo, the capitals of Ukraine show significant differences compared to other cities in the world. Kyiv ranked 199th among 218 cities with a cost of living index that is 28.6% of New York's. Odesa was in 202nd place with an index of 27.2%, and Lviv was in 204th place with an index of 25.8%.
According to the ranking, the least expensive cities in the world are Karachi (Pakistan), Lahore (Pakistan), Kolkata (India), Islamabad (Pakistan) and Chennai (India). The most expensive cities, according to the rating, are Geneva, Zurich, New York, San Francisco and Boston. These data highlight the differences in living standards and costs of living in different parts of the world.
Numbeo takes several key factors into account when estimating the cost of living: the cost of living index, the housing rental index, the grocery cost index, the restaurant price index, and the local purchasing power index. This comprehensive approach allows you to get an accurate picture of the economic burden for the residents of each city.
As for quality of life, Vienna once again topped the ranking of world cities compiled by The Economist. The study included 173 cities, evaluated according to the criteria of safety, health, culture, education and infrastructure. Copenhagen, Zurich and Geneva also rank highly due to high standards of living, safety and efficient public transport.
These rankings illustrate both the significant differences in the cost of living and the various aspects that affect the quality of life in cities around the world. Kyiv, Odesa and Lviv, although at the bottom of the list, show room for improvement in the face of today's economic challenges.
