Ukrainian military in Pokrovsk faces a critical lack of infantry and logistics problems

Ukrainian troops that defend Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region are faced with acute infantry shortages and serious logistics problems . According to the Associated Press , Russian drones are actively attacking ways of supply , which complicates providing the military with the necessary resources.

Defense forces lose control of positions around a strategically important transport unit that connects several roads leading to large cities in the eastern part of Donetsk region. In addition, Pokrovsk is a key railway station that gives it strategic weight.

Moscow seeks to obtain as many territories as possible, especially given the political changes in the United States. The Donald Trump administration insists on negotiations on termination of hostilities, and recent freezing of assistance to Ukraine has caused serious concern among Ukrainian officials. At the same time, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that military support continues.

Pokrovskaya defenders report that recently the enemy has changed tactics, attacking flanks instead of frontal blows, trying to create a tick -borne maneuver around the city. Height control allows the Russians to control Ukrainian supply routes more effectively. Strong fog complicates the work of Ukrainian drones, which enables the occupiers to strengthen their position.

The Armed Forces Command recognizes that there are not enough reserves to strengthen defense, and the newly created units have home -based problems. The military hopes for positive changes after the appointment of Michael Drapaty by the commander of the Land Forces.

“Logistics wins the war. If there is no logistics, then there is no infantry, because it is not possible to provide it. The Russians have learned this and do it quite well, ” - said the deputy commander of the battalion" Wolf Da Vinci "with the call sign" AFF ".

Weather conditions complicate the situation

A number of factors led to the loss of the village of Veliky Novosilka - this has become the largest breakthrough of the enemy since the capture of Kurakhov in January. Ukrainian troops still retain the presence in the southern sector of the settlement, but military experts criticize the decision not to make a complete indentation.

The village is located only 15 km from the boundaries of Dnipropetrovsk region, where the construction of defense fortifications has already been started in connection with the potential advance of the enemy. The places on the ground report the accumulation of significant forces of the Russian infantry.

“Because of this, the enemy increased strength ... He occupied positions, dug. They happened very well, ”one of the commanders near Pokrovsk said.

At the decisive moment, Russian troops began a massive offensive - up to 10 columns of armored vehicles up to 10 units each were introduced into the battle.

Logistics difficulties

The main transport arteries that provide the front are now at risk of attack from the air, which significantly complicates the provision of Ukrainian units. The Russian forces control heights, which allows them to strike 30 km deep into the Armed Forces defense.

"The Pokrovsk-Paurrad-Dnipro route is already under the control of Russian drones," one of the commanders on the front line said. According to him, the throughput of the road has decreased to 10% of the previous indicators.

Alternative routes are also at risk, forcing Ukrainian equipment to move open fields, which increases the risk of damage. This significantly complicates the evacuation of the wounded, which now takes not hours, but days.

"Everything is visible (enemy drones - ed.) And it is very difficult," says Marik paramedic.

Problems with the preparation of recruits

The lack of personnel on the front remains a critical problem. New units do not have sufficient preparation, which creates additional load on experienced parts. “Scam” complains:

“The front line is constantly expanding because they leave their positions, do not hold them, do not control, do not monitor them. We do almost all the work for them. Because of this, having initially a 2-kilometer zone of responsibility, you get 8-9 kilometers per battalion, which is very much, and we have not enough resources. ”

Problems also arise with the supply of drones - their number does not meet the needs.

"This is not because they have less quality infantry, but because they are absolutely not ready for the modern war," Aph adds.

The exhausted Ukrainian military is forced to hold positions for weeks without rotations. The Russians have a significant numerical advantage - according to one Ukrainian soldier there are 20 opponents.

At the medical center near Pokrovsk, a fighter with a call sign "Fish" is undergoing a recovery after the injury he received during the evacuation of a dead friend. During the load of the body on the car near the Russian mine.

"We will reflect how much we can, as best as possible," he says.

What else is known about the situation around Pokrovsk

As we reported, Russian occupiers are not able to surround Pokrovsk.

The Commander -in -Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky notes that the Pokrovsky direction remains one of the hottest on the front. In the first month of 2025, the defense forces were neutralized there, 15,000 invaders, of which about 7000 - irrevocably. He stressed that a defense operation was ongoing, in particular, to destroy enemy forces and enemy reserves.

According to Sirsky, Ukrainian defenders continuously cause losses to the occupiers.
