In the area of the strategically important city of Pokrovsk, in the Donetsk region, the fiercest battles are ongoing. The Pokrovsky direction remains one of the hottest areas of the front, and during the last 24 hours, the Ukrainian military repelled 52 Russian attacks there, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The city of Pokrovsk, which before the war had a population of about 61,000 people, is a key transport hub. It is located on the main road that serves as a supply route to other Ukrainian-held outposts, such as Chasiv Yar and Kostyantynivka in the Donetsk region. Russian troops advanced even closer to the strategic route to the northeast of the city.
On Saturday, the Kremlin announced control over the village of Lozuvatske, located approximately 6 km from the highway. The Russian Ministry of Defense also reported the capture of the villages of Progress, Yevgenivka and Vovche, east of Pokrovsk. Ukraine has not yet commented on these statements.
Serhii Dobryak, the head of the Pokrov military administration, said in an interview with Radio Free Europe that the city is currently 20 km from the front line. He also said that many residents are in no hurry to evacuate, although about 60,000 people, including 4,000 children, remained in the city. In addition, residents of Toretsk are being evacuated to Pokrovsk.
The situation in the Pokrovsky direction remains extremely difficult. Roman Bugayev, senior officer of the 47th OMBR reactive artillery battery, said that the enemy has a 10:1 manpower advantage and is constantly attacking the positions of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. According to him, this is a "huge rush".
Meanwhile, in Kharkiv OTU, they report on the preparation of Russian assault groups for an offensive in the Hlybokoy areas. The occupiers are also strengthening military guard posts on their territory in the area of Sotnytskyi Kozachka.
