Ukrainian convicts, mobilized in exchange for early release, will serve in special assault units

Ukraine has adopted a new strategy to strengthen its military forces in the face of ongoing aggression from Russia.

Under this initiative, convicts who agreed to be mobilized in exchange for early release will serve in special assault units made up of the same inmates.

This was stated by the Minister of Justice Denys Malyuska on the air of the telethon.

"As of now, these will be assault units. These will be units, which so far consist exclusively of persons who have served sentences. That is, these are monolithic units without mixing with other servicemen," Malyuska noted.

According to the minister, the convicts who were mobilized are not yet participating in hostilities. They are being trained.

At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Justice suggested that in the future convicts may be sent to serve in units with ordinary military personnel.
