A Ukrainian military official confirmed anonymously to the Financial Times that the missile attack on the Dnipro that occurred the day before was carried out by an RS-26 Rubizh ballistic missile, and not by an Oreshnik missile, as Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously stated.
According to the interlocutor of the Financial Times, the missile that hit "Pivdenmash" really had a flight range of up to 6,000 km, which confirms its belonging to the RS-26 "Rubizh" type. Putin, in turn, claimed that it was an Oreshnik medium-range missile based on the RS-26 Rubizh.
This refutation of the Ukrainian official casts doubt on the statement of the Russian president, especially given that the damage to the "Pivdenmash" in the Dnipro appears to be a strategically important target for Russia in the context of the production of missile technology.
The deputy speaker of the Pentagon, Sabrina Singh, confirmed that the Oreshnik was developed as an adaptation of the RS-26 Rubizh, which gives even more reason to study the details of this missile strike.
