On the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the first batch of the newest "Peklo" drone missiles, which have already entered service with the Ukrainian army. Earlier, the Palyanitsa missile was presented. Their unique characteristics and prospects for application were explained on the air of "Ukrainian Radio" by retired Lieutenant General Ihor Romanenko.
According to Romanenko, these novelties are not exclusively missiles or drones — they are hybrid technologies that combine the advantages of both types of weapons. Their creation is part of a large-scale missile development program that started in 2022.
"We already have four programs for the development of the latest missiles. Their combat tests will continue in 2024, and we will see how these developments affect the enemy," said Romanenko.
On the night of December 6, the SBU conducted a unique special operation in the Kerch Bay with the involvement of Sea Baby drones. They encountered Russian helicopters, planes and Raptor patrol boats.
"This is not only a unique operation, but also an indicator of the rapid progress of Ukrainian technologies. Now we can talk about the possibility of equipping such devices with salvo fire systems, MANPADS and even machine guns," the general stressed.
Romanenko emphasized that Ukraine is actively developing unmanned systems not only in the air, but also on land, sea and underwater.
"We see that unmanned technologies are becoming key in modern warfare. They are developing in leaps and bounds, and this is our future," he added.
