A Ukrainian genius has developed a "capsule of life" to protect against shelling

Serhiy Zarakhin, a specialist in the field of development and production of woodworking equipment, has started the production of a new project - a modular structure called "Life Capsule". This innovative design is designed to protect against the possible consequences of rocket attacks, and has already found its application in a family from the Kyiv region.

"Capsule of life" is a prefabricated steel structure designed for various types of buildings, including multi-story residential buildings, private residences, office premises and other objects where a monolithic structure cannot be installed. The structure consists of steel elements that are bolted together and attached to the supporting wall. There are two sizes: for three and six people, with an increase in width due to the additional length.

The main parameters of "Capsule of Life" include:

  • Length: 2.1 m;
  • Height: 2.1 m;
  • Width: 1.1 m for three people and 1.4 m for six people;
  • Material: steel 5 mm;
  • Weight: 750 kg and 850 kg, respectively;
  • The heaviest part: 45 kg.

According to the developer, the "Life Capsule" is able to withstand 99% of debris and small fragments (up to 5 mm) in the event of a rocket or explosive launch, although it is not designed for a direct hit. According to calculations, the structure can hold a fire for 30 minutes, so it is recommended to install fire extinguishers, respirators and oxygen cylinders inside.

The design also has emergency hatches on three sides for exit in the event of a jammed door. In addition, there are hooks on both sides of the capsule for lifting it with a crane or a truck.

The developer has already conducted two tests of "Life Capsules". The first test involved dropping a 1,100 kg concrete slab onto the structure from a height of 9.3 m, with the developer inside. He confirmed the high strength of the structure. The second test demonstrated that in the event of a building collapse, the capsule can withstand the weight of the debris. As a result of the test, the structure sagged only 15 millimeters and recovered to its original state after the load was removed.

The cost of the "Life Capsule" is UAH 53,000, which includes the cost of materials, but the developer sells it for UAH 70,000. A share of the profit goes to pay the tax in the amount of 5%.

Serhii has already successfully installed one capsule to the order of a family living in a house vulnerable to explosions near Boyarka. Such protection has been compared to a seat belt in a car, which may not provide absolute safety, but greatly increases the chances of survival.

Serhiy is currently working on the development of a barrier that can withstand a 7.62 caliber shot, and plans to test this new element in the near future.
