One of the longest and loudest legal disputes in the modern history of Ukrainian show business has finally ended. Singer Vitaliy Kozlovsky reported the final completion of the litigation with former producer Igor Kondratyuk, which lasted more than 13 years.
The artist shared the news on Instagram: "All my previous hits belong to me! I'm free from Kondratyuk!" - Kozlovsky wrote, thanking the fans for his support and promising to return with a new project.
In his turn, Kondratyuk confirmed the information about the completion of the case: "The court debt is paid by Vitaliy Kozlovsky. The song catalog is fully transferred to him. The case is closed!"
The conflict between the artist and the producer broke out after the completion of their cooperation, which began in the 2000s after Kozlovsky's participation in the Chance show. The songs that brought popularity were legally owned by the producer. After a break in the relationship, Kozlovsky continued to perform his early repertoire, which led to a lawsuit for copyright infringement.
In 2021, the court ordered Kozlovsky to pay Kondratyuk 3 million hryvnias. The artist paid some of the artist, the rest - through court payments from the salary in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where the service is currently undergoing.
However, in early 2024, Kondratyuk declared in an interview that he was terminated and accused Kozlovsky of manipulation. Subsequently, both parties stopped the public war - obviously, reaching the final compromise.
This conflict has become an important precedent for the Ukrainian musical industry, demonstrating how difficult the relationship between artists and producers can be - especially when it comes to creativity. Now Vitaliy Kozlovsky has full freedom to use his own song catalog and seems to be ready for a new stage in his career.
