At night, the Russian occupiers launched a massive attack on the country, targeting critical infrastructure facilities. As a result of these attacks, critical infrastructure facilities in the Odessa, Dnipropetrovsk, and Lviv regions were hit, which led to large-scale power and heat outages for the local population.
On March 24, Russian occupiers launched 29 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles from 14 Tu-95MS strategic aircraft and 28 Shahed attack UAVs over Ukraine. This was reported by the Ukrainian Armed Forces Command.
As a result of the air combat, 43 air targets were destroyed: 18 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles and 25 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs within the Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Odessa, Sumy, Kyiv, Volyn and Lviv regions.
Kyiv and the region
Kyiv has been hit by a Russian missile attack for the second time in four days. According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, on the night of March 24, the Russian military fired three types of missiles at the Ukrainian capital: Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55. They were launched by Tu-95MS strategic bombers from the Engels district (Saratov region, Russia). The missiles approached Kyiv in groups, from the north.
As of the morning of March 24, the Ukrainian military had shot down about a dozen missiles fired by the Russian Armed Forces. In the Desnyanskyi district of the capital, debris fell on the territory of forest plantations. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, debris was recorded falling on the territory of a park zone and on the territory of residential buildings. There were no casualties or injuries.
In one of the settlements in the Kyiv region, rocket fragments fell on the territory of a car wash and damaged a nearby power line. As a result, more than 400 houses were left without electricity. In another place, the fragments fell in open areas outside the settlements. There were no hits on residential and critical infrastructure. There were no casualties from the rocket attack.
Lviv region
The head of the Lviv OVA, Maksym Kozytsky, reported that at night enemy “shaheeds” and missiles attacked a critical infrastructure facility in the Lviv region in the city of Stryi. A fire broke out. Firefighters are currently working at the scene of the incident. No information about casualties has been received.
Dnipropetrovsk region
According to the head of the Dnipropetrovsk OVA, Serhiy Lysak, at night Russian troops attacked the region with attack UAVs. Due to falling debris in Kryvyi Rih, heating networks and power lines were damaged. Several boiler houses were disconnected due to a voltage drop in the city. 6 hospitals and more than 150 educational institutions were left without heat. And another 3 thousand houses, where 76 thousand people live in total. There were power outages in one of the medical institutions. It was restored.
And in the Nikopol region, the Russian Armed Forces struck critical infrastructure: debris from a downed drone damaged an energy facility. More than 3,000 subscribers in Nikopol and more than 6,400 in the region were left without electricity.
Odesa region
The Southern Defense Forces reported on March 24 that “Shaheeds” damaged port infrastructure on the Danube in the Odessa region at night.
