Ukraine is covered by a cloud of polluted air: where will be the worst situation

Since March 20, a number of Ukrainian regions may face a sharp deterioration in the quality of air. The reason for this will be a cloud of polluted air coming from Western Europe. High concentration of PM2.5 particles is expected - dangerous microstabrais that can adversely affect human health.

Which areas will be affected most

According to the weather radar Ventusky, the Zhytomyr region will be most affected, where the level of shares RM2.5 can reach 579 units - a critically high rate. Such concentration of pollutants can cause exacerbation of chronic diseases, breathing problems, headache and general deterioration of well -being even in healthy people.

Other areas will also be influenced by this cloud, as the western wind will gradually carry polluted air deep into the country. The worst situation is predicted from March 20 to March 22. Starting on March 23, air quality should improve.

Why do RM2.5 particles are dangerous

RM2.5 particles are microscopic contaminants that result from:

  • industrial emissions;
  • works of transport;
  • Burning of fuel.

Due to their extremely small size, they easily penetrate the lungs and blood of a person, which can cause heart problems, lungs and overall deterioration of health.

The level of RM2.5 is influenced by the weather conditions:

  • the wind can disperse the polluted air;
  • Rain helps to clean the atmosphere by precipitation of the ground.

However, the weather is expected in the coming days, which will contribute to the accumulation of pollution, which can complicate the situation.

How to protect yourself from contaminated air

Experts recommend:

  • limit your outdoor stay, especially for people with chronic diseases;
  • avoid physical exertion on the street;
  • close the windows during the greatest contamination;
  • use cleaners or humidifiers in the premises;
  • Keep track of air quality forecasts and, if possible, avoid traveling to high -pollution regions.

Particularly vulnerable to the effects of polluted air are children, the elderly and those who have diseases of the respiratory and cardiovascular system. Therefore, you should take all possible measures to protect yourself and your loved ones.
