German Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Eger said in an interview with TSN that while the war in eastern Ukraine continues, the country's membership in NATO is unrealistic. According to him, there is a consensus both within NATO and among the Ukrainian government that until the conflict is resolved, Ukraine's candidacy for membership in the alliance will not be considered.
“There is a consensus in NATO, and I think here in Ukraine with the Ukrainian government, that NATO membership is unrealistic while the war is ongoing,” the diplomat said in an interview with TSN.
Speaking about how the war could end, Yeager said that the West would not give instructions to Ukraine. But at the same time, he spoke out against "Minsk-3" - that is, freezing the war on the front line.
“We will not give Ukraine any instructions. If there are any negotiations, we will stand on the side of Ukraine. There will be no “Minsk-3”. Germany very strongly supports President Zelensky’s peace formula. We consider this to be the appropriate approach to end this war,” the ambassador said.
