The Solomyanskyi District Court of Kyiv found an employee of Ukrposhta JSC guilty of stealing mobile phones from international parcels. The man's actions caused the company losses in the amount of 5,931 hryvnias.
The incident occurred on March 24, 2021, at the premises of the Directorate for Processing and Transportation of Mail. The accused, while at work and having access to international mail, stole five Xiaomi phones of various models from parcels received at the DOPP of JSC "Ukrposhta". After that, the man went through the checkpoint and handed over the stolen phones to pawnshops.
During the trial, the accused fully admitted his guilt, sincerely repented, and assured that he would not repeat such actions. He also compensated for the damages and provided the court with proof of payment.
The court found the man guilty under Part 2 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft committed repeatedly or on a particularly large scale) and sentenced him to three years in prison. At the same time, in accordance with Article 75 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, he was released from serving his sentence with probation for a probationary period of one year. Additionally, he was required to periodically appear for registration with the probation agency and report a change of residence.
The court's decision becomes effective, and the citizen is obliged to comply with all established obligations during the examination period.
