Ukrzaliznytsia shared the achievements of the "Barrier-free Railway" program for 2023

Ukrzaliznytsia reports that rail travel for Ukrainians with certain health restrictions has now become much easier thanks to the successful implementation of the "Barrier-Free Railway" program in 2023. The carrier has implemented more than a hundred similar initiatives across the country aimed at facilitating access to train stations.

As a result of the implementation of program measures, the stations became more accessible, as it was decided to lower the ticket booths and equip the descent ramps and automated doors. At the capital's main station, two new elevators have been installed for people with limited mobility, which makes it easier for them to move to the first platform.

The rolling stock has also been modernized: all electric trains are now equipped with ramps and designated places for people with disabilities who use wheelchairs.

Ukrzaliznytsia already launched new services last year, including ordering special carriages online for people with disabilities and an improved mechanism for obtaining the "station assistant" service to accompany them.
