Umerov and Syrsky discussed the urgent needs of Ukraine with Pentagon chief Austin

Umerov and Syrsky had a telephone conversation with Pentagon chief Austin yesterday.

"After we informed the Minister of Defense in detail about the current situation and recent Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure, the medium-term and urgent needs of Ukraine were discussed, in particular the increase of air defense systems and missiles," the head of the Armed Forces conveyed the gist of the conversation.

The Pentagon's report does not say that Lloyd Austin spoke with Syrsky - only Umerov is mentioned.

It is reported that they talked "about developments on the ground and the impact of ongoing Russian airstrikes on critical civilian infrastructure."

Also, Austin and Umerov discussed "Ukraine's most urgent needs for capabilities and confirmed the urgent need for additional national security."
