Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Valery Zaluzhnyi will submit a new bill on mobilization to the Verkhovna Rada, as stated in the parliamentary documentation. Umerov will act as the main representative of the draft law, and Zaluzhny will act as a co-rapporteur.
The updated draft law on mobilization and military service (No. 10449), registered in the Council of the Cabinet of Ministers on January 30, provides for a clear term of service during martial law. Also, groups of people with disabilities will be excluded from the draft, and the amount of additional remuneration will remain at the level of 30 thousand or 100 thousand hryvnias until the end of martial law.
The previous draft law, registered by the Cabinet of Ministers on December 25, drew criticism. It was planned to be considered in the first reading on January 11, and the second reading in early February. However, after the meeting, the participants of which included Zaluzhny, Umerov and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhii Shaptala, the draft law was returned to the government for finalization.
