It is quite likely that the bill on additional budget spending to support Ukraine will never be passed. There is no consensus on this issue in the US Congress, and Republicans are increasingly pressing for the need to shift spending to Europe.
Thus, negotiations between Republican congressmen and the American administration on strengthening the security of the southern border and allocating additional funding for Ukraine have so far proved fruitless. Currently, no decision has been made on financing Ukraine. Earlier, the coordinator for strategic communications of the White House National Security Council, John Kirby, generally reported that the United States is not currently working on or planning any new military assistance packages for Ukraine. According to him, the previous package, announced on December 27, was the last.
And here, unfortunately for Ukraine, a more pro-American candidate won the elections in Taiwan, so the US will continue to pump weapons into the island. And the Republicans will be much more willing to support financing the “Taiwan case” than to continue aid to Ukraine, motivating this by the fact that China poses the greatest threat to the US. Congress will not consider a bill on providing aid to Ukraine without resolving the border issue.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives posted a screenshot of US President Biden's post in X, crossed out the line about helping Ukraine and added "ensuring border security.".
“If only the president would focus on our sovereignty first,” Johnson wrote.
Republicans have said that any bill that does not address the issue and ensure border security is unacceptable to the House of Representatives.
