The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has announced the approval for the supply of a new tactical-level unmanned aerial system called “Black Widow.” This cutting-edge technological solution is distinguished by its capabilities and diverse functions, making it an important component of modern combat strategy.
Review of “Black Widow”
The Black Widow drone is a quadcopter that can be used both day and night. This system has the ability to perform missions in a First-Person View (FPV) strike format, allowing for pinpoint strikes on targets.
One of the key features of the Black Widow is its versatility and relatively low cost, which allows for the widespread use of these drones in combat conditions. It can operate both in a reusable format and as a single-use strike drone. In the case of single-use, the drone is equipped with an enhanced explosive charge, which makes it effective for strikes on strategic enemy targets.
Comparison with “Orlan-10”
Against the backdrop of the news about the “Black Widow”, it is also worth mentioning the unmanned reconnaissance drone “Orlan-10”, which poses a significant threat due to its capabilities. Recently, Ukrainian defenders managed to shoot down the “Orlan-10” at an altitude of more than 3.5 kilometers. This drone is capable of covering a distance of 600 kilometers, rising to a height of up to 5 kilometers, and its range is 120 kilometers.
The Orlan-10 has the ability to detect targets, adjust artillery fire, intercept radio communications, block mobile communications, “break” the GPS signal, and drop munitions from low altitude. Therefore, the effectiveness of new unmanned systems, such as the Black Widow, in combating such threats is extremely important.
