Wheat harvest in Ukraine this year can be only 17.9 million tons. This is 23% less than last year and the lowest in the last 13 years.
Such data have released Reuters with reference to the USDA Ministry of Agriculture Forecast.
The main causes of the yield falling are extremely dry land during the sowing campaign and low profitability of production, which led to the reduction of acreage.
In addition, experts predict the reduction of the world's wheat supply in the 2025/26 season due to the crop reduction in Ukraine and Russia, which accounts for about 30% of world grain exports.
Currently, Russian sources estimate their yield at 79.7-82.5 million tons, which is almost corresponding to last year's. At the same time, the situation in Ukraine looks disturbing.
Experts say that favorable weather can still improve the condition of crops, but the first estimates indicate a serious decline in production. According to USDA forecasts, exports of Ukrainian wheat in the 2025/26 marketing year can be reduced more than twice compared to record years.
