Economic experts claim that government officials are deliberately creating conditions for the growth of inflation. An increase in energy prices, an increase in taxes and tariffs for communal services - all this affects the final cost of products.
Businesses are forced to raise the prices of goods and services to compensate for rising costs. In turn, this leads to a decrease in the purchasing power of the population and a further increase in prices, creating a closed circle.
The Cabinet of Ministers made a decision according to which the business must import 80% of the electricity in the balance of consumption in order to be guaranteed to receive another 20% from Ukrenergo. However, as noted by political scientist Kyrylo Sazonov, the problem is that Ukraine does not import enough electricity to supply all enterprises. As a result of the shortage, on the very first day of the decree's effect, the cost of imported energy rose wildly - and by 20% at once, and it still wasn't enough for everyone.
"Agitating prices for imported light is a new spiral of inflation in Ukraine. Because then, automatically, the cost price of Ukrainian products will increase. And then there are the prices for all goods and services. This will hit vulnerable categories of the population - because, unlike tariffs, excise taxes and prices, neither pensions nor salaries in Ukraine are growing," the expert noted.
According to him, donations from businesses and the population have already dropped significantly. "Everyone can see it. And it's not that the population and businesses don't want to help. And the fact that they no longer have the resources to do it. Instead, the government, in order to compensate for this resource, is doing the worst - tightening the screws even more in the hope of filling the budget," Sazonov emphasized.
According to him, the only thing the government will achieve with its decisions is the closing of enterprises, which will result in a fall in budget revenues and an increase in unemployment.
"Officials should stop flirting with the population, and set priorities not as populism demands, but as necessary for victory. People can sit without light. Maybe for a long time - I checked. And a closed cycle enterprise cannot sit without light. Now, first of all, we need to take care of the economy. Otherwise, we will simply run out of money," said Sazonov.
