The Government of Ukraine has approved the decision to allocate an additional 792 million hryvnias to support the country's defense capabilities. According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, these funds are intended for the "very urgent needs" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine .
The distribution of the allocated funds provides for the purchase of ammunition, thermal imagers and drones , which is critically important for strengthening defense capabilities in the context of an aggravating geopolitical situation. In particular, these funds will be distributed among different military units according to their urgent needs.
It is expected that the Ministry of Defense will receive the largest amount of funds - 657 million hryvnias. Part of them will be used for the needs of the Administration of the State Special Transport Service. The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense will receive 10.5 million hryvnias.
Funding is also provided for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in particular for the National Guard and the Administration of the State Border Service. The Security Service of Ukraine will receive 23.8 million hryvnias.
Note that this decision is part of the broader context of changes in financing, in particular, the decision to redirect taxes on military income from local budgets to the state budget. Changes in this direction were adopted in September and November 2023.
